A cold rolled axle can withstand much high service loads without cracking.

Specially indicated for locomotive wheelsets and heavy haul applications.

 

Our completely automated cold-rolling line can treat the seats, the grooves or all the surface of the axle, in a fully controlled, repetitive way. The process allows to:

• Increase the hardness on the surface and deep below.
• Introduce strong compressive residual stresses deep under the surface.
• Reduce the surface roughness

The result is an axle with a higher fatigue limit, resistant to crack formation and propagation. The overall safety margin is significantly increased and the inspection intervals can be extended, allowing to obtain improvements in maintenance costs.
